I created the SEX+SEO community on Facebook as a place where anyone working with sexuality can learn about search engine optimisation (SEO) and digital marketing.
Why SEX+SEO?
Having worked in SEO and digital marketing for six years in agency-land, working with clients both big and small, I realised that I wanted to give back to my community. I’m hoping that I can share the skills I’ve learned to help people whose work I want to see more of in the world.
What Is SEO?
SEO is often seen as a bit of a black box – complicated and misunderstood. A lot of it is actually common sense, once you’re viewing it from the right perspective. It’s a process of making sure your website contains content that people are actually searching for, and is easy to understand by search engines. Fundamentally, that’s all there is to it!
There’s lots of misinformation floating around the web about what is “good” SEO, and a lot of it comes from previous practices that used to work, that don’t anymore (as Google has gotten smarter and the web has changed). My intention for this group is a place where we can share the simple, common-sense stuff that helps sites rank higher without using practices that might result in websites getting penalised the next time Google updates their algorithms.
